Storz couplings are commonly used components in agricultural, firefighting and industrial applications to ensure quick and secure connections for water hoses, wastewater hoses and pipes. We offer a comprehensive range of cast and forged Storz couplings in our online shop. Both forged Storz couplings (16 Bar WP) and casted Storz fittings (6 Bar WP) are designed to meet the diverse needs of our customers.
Storz Coupling Types
- Female threaded Storz couplings
- Storz hosetails
- Male threaded Storz couplings
- Storz reducers
- Storz caps and accessories
Cast Storz Couplings
The casted Storz couplings are produced by pouring molten metal into molds to form the desired shape. Casted Storz couplings can take up to 6 BAR working pressure. While casted couplings may not have the same tensile strength as forged couplings, they are generally more cost-effective and can be made into complex shapes. Casted couplings are mainly used in applications that do not require the extreme strength of forged couplings.
Storz cast aluminum couplings are lightweight and resistant to rust, Casted aluminium couplings are mainly used in agricultural firefighting applications where mobility and durability are important
Storz cast brass couplings provide a good balance of strength, corrosion resistance, and ease of machining, making them a common choice for general-purpose couplings.
Forged Storz Couplings
Forged Storz couplings are made from high-strength steel and are typically produced by shaping the material under high pressure. Therfore, forged Storz couplings can take up to 16 Bar working pressure. Forged couplings are stronger, more durable and can withstand demanding environments. Forged versions are known for their excellent mechanical properties, making them ideal for high-pressure applications and industries that require superior strength and reliability.
Storz forged brass couplings provide corrosion resistance and durability, making them suitable for both industrial and firefighting applications.
Storz forged aluminum couplings are lightweight and resistant to corrosion, making it ideal for portable equipment and environments where weight is a concern.
Storz stainless steel couplings provide both strength and resistance to corrosion. Stainless steel is a popular choice for industries with high-stress environments or exposure to harsh chemicals.
Storz Lug Distance
Storz couplings feature two lugs (protruding ridges) on the outer circumference of the coupling. These lugs are used to help twist and lock the coupling into place when connecting to another part of the system. Lugs are usually evenly spaced around the circumference of the coupling.
Use a Caliper or Ruler:
Use a caliper like a vernier caliper, this is the most accurate and precise tool for measuring lug distance, Alternatively, a standard measuring ruler or tape can be used, but it may be less accurate than a caliper.
Measure Lug-to-Lug Distance:
- The lug distance is measured from the center of one lug to the center of the opposite lug.
- If the coupling has multiple lugs, measure across any two opposite lugs.
- If the coupling is designed with a single lug or dual lug, measure the distance between the center of the lug and the center of the opposite lug (you may have to measure across 180 degrees of the coupling).
